Salt is a mineral primarily composed of Sodium Chloride (NaCl). Salt is present in vast quantities in seawater, where it is the main mineral constituent. Salt is processed from salt mines, and by the evaporation of seawater (sea salt) and mineral-rich spring water in shallow pools.
Industrial salt forms an intermediary in the manufacturing of a wide variety of products right from detergents, textile dyes, resins, plastics, glass and other chemicals. Industrial salt also assists in cleaning gas and oil wells and is an essential component in the manufacture of paper, tyre, brass, bleach and case-hardened steel.
